CAIRO: The former Egyptian Prime Minister, Ahmed Shafiq, started preparing to run for the Egyptian presidential elections, according to sources. One member of the coordinating committee supporting Shafiq, Ahmed Azb, told Youm7 Shafiq decided to use foreign experts to put together his electoral program. Azb said Shafiq was following voting procedures last year. Shafiq held a meeting at his house with Sufi Sheikh, Abdel Hady el-Kasaby, a few days ago. Sheikh el-Kasaby promised Shafiq Sufis will vote for him in the presidential elections, according to a source. He added Shafiq met with 20 delegations from different governorates, who asked him to run the presidential elections. Youm7 was informed more than 15 of the leading families in 12 Egyptian governorates invited him over for Iftar, the breaking fast meal of the Islamic month of Ramadan.
