The former head of the Office of the Presidency Republic, Zakaria Azmi, and his brother-in-law will be transferred to criminal court tomorrow. Egyptian Illicit Gains Authority, headed by Assem al-Gohary, proved his involvement in achieving illegal gains by using his authority power as the former head of the Office of the Presidency Republic, as a member of the People's Assembly and as leader in the dissolved Democratic National Party. Azmi's brother-in-law, Gamal Abdel Monem, hid some of his properties as well. Azmi was transferred to Cairo Criminal Court after it proved he got villas, apartments and lands illegally in different cities in Egypt. He hid his property, an apartment, in Alexandria with the help of his brother-in-law. The head of investigation authority, Montaser Saleh, carried out the investigations and proved Azmi committed other crimes. Azmi had cooperated with the former governor of Ismalia, Abdel Monem Omara. They illegally allocated half an acre of land by using their power as authorities. Azmi also seized housing units in Heliopolis illegally. Illicit Gains Authority transferred Azmi to the General Attorney to be investigated for another crime, in which Azmi is accused of planning with directors of board of national press organizations in Egypt. He made agreements with Al-Akhbar, Al-Ahram and Al-Gomhorreya to delay retirement and in return will receive presents and funds of their organizations. Illicit Gains Authority informed the Tax Authority about property interests and imposed Azmi with a bail of 86 million EGP (U.S. $14.4 million) for illegal gains and restoring the wealth of Azmi's wife. Finally, the Illicit Gains Authority asked the Criminal Court to detain Azmi and his brother-in-law.
