CAIRO: The Egyptian cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Essam Sharaf, approved yesterday the legislative amendments of the Law of Treachery and transferred the law to Egypt's ruling military council for approval. The most controversial point about the Law of Treachery is that it is void by the end of its implementation period. However, Judge Adel Aziz Gendy, Egypt's minister of justice, replied that there is no clear article or law that invalidates the provisional law. Gendy also said if the law was issued to be applied for specific phase, it can be applied for another phase with the same circumstances. "The Law of Treachery is modified in procedural, not objective, issues," said Ahmed Hegazy, the cabinet spokesman.
