In solidarity with Asmaa Mahfouz, the political activist being tried before a military court, Mahfouz's friend, Rasha Yousry decided to undertake a hunger strike, announcing that she rejects military trials for the citizens. Yousry emphasized that her hunger strike is to ease the sentence against Mahfouz although she rejects the military trials against the citizens. She said the goal of Mahfouz's military trial is to intimidate citizens into not expressing their opinions, adding, "despite living in Alexandria, I decided to come to Cairo to support my friend."
