CAIRO: Egypt's National Council for Human Rights (NCHR) called upon the Syrian regime to suspend the violence against peaceful demonstrators in Syria, in a statement issued on Tuesday. NCHR demanded the Syrian security and armed forces to stop attacking the civilians to suppress the demonstrations. The statement also condemned the imprisonment of the head of the Syrian Center for Human Rights among other activists. The statement said it follows up on violations committed by the Syrian regime against the Syrian demonstrators, which led to thousands of victims, imprisonment of many peaceful protesters, and the destruction of resident's homes. The council condemned the assaults, considering them a violation of the principles of human rights. The NCHR demanded the Syrian regime to suspend assaults and violations and to protect the Syrian citizens.
