NORTH SINAI, Egypt: The Egyptian armed forces along with Sinai residents prepared for the execution of the “Eagle” operation – a mission designed to remove extremists in the governorate. Armored tanks arrive in Sheikh Zuwaid, about 15 kilometers from the Egypt-Gaza border. Police and military generals inspected hot zones inside and on the outskirts of Sheikh Zuwaid as well as the local police station. Four armored vehicles were deployed in the town. Assistant Minister of Interior for Public Security Ahmed Gamal el-Din met with sheikhs and other security personnel in Sinai at the Arish police directorate. The assistant minister called to meeting to discuss and congratulate sheikhs for their help in arresting suspects and extremists. “The people's committee should not replace Sinai security because of their highlighted role,” said Gamal el-Din. The public security head followed up on the final measures prior to the launching of the operation.
