Spokesman of the National Council Mamdouh Hamza urged all political movements, coalitions and parties to unite as “Egypt 2000 Party,” and run in parliamentary elections together. Hamza claims that the new electoral law – making 25-year-olds eligible for parliament seats – will make it easier for all coalitions to be represented in the coming elections. The spokesman made this announcement at a meeting with January 25 Revolution leaders at the Center for Leadership Development in Agouza. “Movements and coalitions of youth will be stronger if they are united as a single entity,” said Hamza. The spokesman also submitted a proposal to merge all entities into one massive political party under the auspices of the National Council. “Egypt 2000 can be the party that will represent all political voices,” said Hamza. Declaring that youth leaders should lead political action, party president Fawzi Al-Ghazali threw his support behind the effort to unite all political parties. Al-Ghazli also highlighted the time, energy and financial savings unified political action would bring. A coalition of Ministry of Interior personnel was in attendance – a massive group comprised of 56,000 Egyptians from all over the nation. The group welcomed the idea of uniting with other political forces. “The coalition of personnel from the Ministry of Interior will obtain their rights through the establishment of a union,” said Coalition Spokesperson Fekry Abdul Ghani. “All demands of the revolution should be fulfilled by October,” said Mahmoud Yahya, a representative of the Egyptian Youth Movement to Raise Awareness. Yahya also urged all participants to join next Friday's protest. The Egyptian Union to Challenge Disability said it will participate in next Friday's protest in Tahrir Square. The April 6 Youth Movement, the Popular Movement for Independence of Al-Azhar and the Nubian Coalition all pledged their participation in Friday's demonstration.
