ALEXANDRIA, Egypt: The Alexandria Judges club, headed by Judge Ezzat Agwa, has opposed reforming the judicial authority law. The club will hold an emergency general assembly on Friday in solidarity with Cairo Judges Club, opposing the formation of a judicial committee, headed by Judge Ahmed Mekki, which will reform the law. "Ahmed Mekki is a retired judge and therefore he cannot head the judicial committee. Also, it is not acceptable to exclude Judges Club members from this committee," said Agwa. "I have participated in all committees that issued judicial authority laws since the 1960s," said Mekki. The judicial committee's second meeting will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2011 in order to discuss suggestions. The committee will hold workshops for three days to discuss all suggestions.
