CAIRO: Egypt's new governors took their oaths of office before the head of Egypt's ruling military council today. Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, head of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, asked Prime Minister Essam Sharaf and Local Development Minister Mohamed Atiya to meet with the new governors to clarify their duties and responsibilities. Atiya told Youm7 that the meeting highlighted the significant presence of the governors among their people to return stability to Egypt's governorates. The meeting also tackled acceleration of cleansing the system from corruption and remnants of the former regime. After swearing in all governors assumed their offices, he added.
