CAIRO: A judicial source revealed that former president Hosni Mubarak may miss his first trial if he is sick, and in this case his lawyer will attend and reveal his excuse of absence. According to the source, the first session is not that important as it is only procedural. The criminal procedure law allows for Mubarak not to show up in the first session on condition that his lawyer reveals an excuse for his absence, Mohamed al-Dematy, the coordinator of the Freedom Committee of the Bar Association. Mubarak's health excuse is making it difficult to transfer him from the International Hospital of Sharm el-Sheikh to the Police Academy in Cairo, where his trial will be held.
