ARISH, Egypt: Egypt's army forces clashed with unknown armed people who tried to break into the gas station in Arish, which exports Egyptian gas to Israel through North Sinai. The gas station lies 30 km north of Arish city, in which unknown armed people carried out attacks and killed five people yesterday, according to security sources. Sources said unknown gunmen attacked the gas station yesterday with RPGs, rocket-propelled grenades. They destroyed the cooling line, connected to the gas exporting line. Fortunately the gas pipeline was empty since the last gas flow on July 11. "Two trucks carrying gunmen tried to break into the gas station that exports gas to Israel. However, army forces confronted them and they ran away. They damaged the gas pipeline using RPGs," one eyewitness said. Security sources said the attack did not result in any loss.
