CAIRO: All Egyptians are invited for Taraweh prayers and Iftar – the traditional meal breaking the fast in the Muslim's holy month – on the fifth of Ramadan in Tahrir Square, according to the Egyptian Coordinator Committee of the Revolution, said Safwat Hegazi, an Egyptian Islamic preacher. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, during which Muslims refrain from eating and drinking from dawn to dusk. During his speech to demonstrators in Tahrir, Hegazi rejected the supra-constitution principles the ruling military council laid out. There will be a group of scholars and sheikhs to deliver speeches after next Friday's prayer, he added. Notable names include Omar Abdel-Kafi and Sheikh Mohammad Hassan. “Today is one of the most important days in Egypt as all people rallied on the day of unifying,” said Tahrir Imam Mazhar Shaheen. Shaheen thanked all participants in Friday's rally, many of whom came from various places outside of Cairo.
