ARISH, Egypt: Palm tree export to Israel is suspended according to the governor of North Sinai, Abdel Wahab Mabrouk, as a response to demands raised by Sinai's Revolutionists Movement. The coordinator of the movement, Mohamed Hendi, said the movement demanded the governor to take the step to protect Egypt's wealth of palm trees. Many decisions were taken in this regard but haven't yet been activated. North Sinai exported about 837,000 palm trees to Israel and Europe since they are the highest quality trees of the world. The total number of palm trees used in Israeli feasts reached 370 million. Israel needs about 400 to 500 million palms annually so Egyptian companies contract with Israeli companies for export.
