Hundreds of Egyptian citizens, many belonging to Nasserist trends, visited the late President Gamal Abdel Nasser's tomb today in commemoration of the July 23, 1952 Revolution. Among the visitors were Hamdeen Sabbahi, head of al-Karama Party and a likely presidential candidate; Minister of Health Amr Helmy; Deputy Chairman of the National Council for Human Rights Hassan Faek; and political activist George Ishak. Nasser was the only Egyptian leader who achieved social justice and devoted himself to the poor, said Sabbahi. He also said that social justice is a national request and that any new president should follow Nasser's values. He said this year's celebration of the 1952 Revolution is different because it comes after the success of the more recent January 25 Revolution. The absence of prominent writer Hassanein Heikal was very noticeable, because he visite the tomb every year. Sabbahi was the only presidential candidate to visit the tomb today.
