Egypt's General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) will offer a presentation of small- and mid-level projects to an Emirati delegation, said Osama Saleh, Chairman of the GAFI. The Emirati delegation will visit Egypt next week to finalize funding for the projects, as part of Emirati aid to Egypt estimated at U.S. $3 billion. In a statement to Youm7, Saleh said, "The GAFI is working to benefit from Emirati investments, estimated at U.S. $1.5 billion, and we aim to put these investments into the GAFI's small and middle projects' fund if the Emirati delegation approves the proposal." The GAFI will meet any investment delegations – Arab or otherwise – to maximize its investment opportunities, said Saleh. He also said that if the Emirati delegation agrees to finance the small and middle projects in the different Egyptian governorates, the GAFI will hold a meeting with the appropriate governors to address project logistics. It was announced earlier this month at a meeting between Emirati deputy Prime Minister Mansour Ben Zayed and Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf that the UAE will give Egypt U.S. $3 billion in aid to finance economic projects.
