CAIRO: Egypt's ruling military council announced late last night that civilians will only face military trials if they are accused of rape, assaulting on-duty policemen or using weapons to frighten citizens. The council's statement, issued last night, said peaceful protesting is one of the basic rights that the council has acknowledged since the beginning of Egypt's January 25 Revolution. However, protests must not harm public or private property, it added. Any citizen with a complaint or inquiry about former military trials may call the following numbers: (phone) 2257664 or (fax) 24188294. The council asked all Egyptians to impede any attempt aiming to harm Egypt's security or stability.
