LUXOR, Egypt: "Tourist movement to Luxor increased in July by 10 percent," said Mohamed Youssef, head of the chamber of tourist facilities in Luxor. Youssef said Luxor is cultural tourist city. Tourists prefer to go to the Red Sea resorts of Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada at this time of year, but despite that tourism is increasing in Luxor. Youssef also said hotels and tourist establishments have an occupied rate of eight percent. Most of shop owners and tourist shops are suffering from recession, particularly bazaars owners. Youssef expects tourist rates to rise by next year. He confirmed that the current year has completely collapsed.
