CAIRO: Thousands of protesters have left Cairo's Tahrir Square after yesterday's ‘Friday of Last Warning' demonstrations. The April 6 Youth movement, however, refused to end their sit-in and said they will continue their protest until their demands are met. Ahmed Maher, the movement's organizer and general coordinator, said the protest will last until a new government is formed and the rest of the demands of the January 25 Revolution are achieved. Maher denied ending the sit-in, as other youth movements have, in order to wait for the monetary council and the prime minister to commit to their promises. Maher confirmed the movement's support for Prime Minister Essam Sharaf's decision to reshuffle the government. Maher said there are seven urgent demands that must be met for the protest to end: - Formation of a revolution government and preventing the ruling military council's interference in choosing new ministers; - Firing the attorney general and appointing a new one from the independent judiciary; - Closing the central editing agency; - Purifying all organizations from remnants of the former regime, particularly the justice, media, health, and education ministries; - Cancelling the law against protests; - Stopping the trials of civilians before military courts; and - Setting a definitive minimum wage In related news, the movements which have ended their protests said the government and military council have proven their commitment to their promises by beginning the purification of the Ministry of Interior. They threatened to hold another open protest if the current procedures do not satisfy their ambitions. The Youth Revolution Coalition said it will continue to hold an open dialogue with protesters. A tent has been erected in Tahrir Square to hold discussions will all participative movements and coalitions in order to exchange opinions, thoughts and suggestions.
