CAIRO: The hospital set up in Cairo's Tahrir Square received 16 people on hunger strike today, all of whom are in critical condition. They began their hunger strike five days ago. Ahmed Yahia, a doctor in the hospital, said they abstained completely from drinking or eating and some of them risk their hearts stopping and death. He added that the hospital gave them all required solutions and juices to restore their condition. Some demonstrators in Tahrir had said they could stage a hunger strike if their demands were not met. Also in Tahrir, likely presidential candidate Hamdeen Sabbahi joined the demonstrations today, the ‘Friday of final warning.' Sahbahi said he completely supports the Tahrir sit-in. He added that the square can put an end to the revolution it began. Regarding the trials of those accused of killing demonstrators during the January 25 Revolution, Sabbahi said the trials will be conducted as long as the Egyptians are still in streets. He also highlighted the necessity of publicly prosecuting former president Hosni Muabark and his aids to bring calm to Egypt's streets.
