CAIRO: The Egyptian Ministry of Finance gave compensation checks worth 12 million EGP (U.S. $2 million) to 509 families of martyrs killed during Egypt's January 25 Revolution. The funds came from the public treasury. The ministry received 624 requests. Of those, 509 families had the required documents and certificates to receive compensation. The ministry is also working to cash the new pension payments for 115 families. The ministry said pensioners' dues will be given within the next few days. The ministry added that the martyrs' pensions will be added to any pension or income their families take. In the case that there is no pension for other martyrs' families, they would take a 50,000-pound reward for the legal heirs. The Ministry also said around 411 martyrs' families will regularly obtain their insurance dues from bureaus of social insurance in both private and public sectors. Meanwhile, around 98 families will take their dues from governmental bureaus. As for the required files and documents, each family should submit a death certificate, inheritance statement, a certificate from general Prosecution, and a copy of the medical report, in accordance with statements issued by General Prosecutor.
