CAIRO: Tehran University decided to present a scholarship to women exposed to prejudice as a result of their religious beliefs or for wearing a veil. The scholarship is to commemorate the memory of Marwa el-Sherbini, a German woman of Egyptian origin who was murdered by a German citizen for wearing a veil. Tehran University made a statement stating the violation of religious freedom must be considered a violation of human rights. The scholarship supports talented women who face abuse in western countries and are victims of racism. Marwa el-Sherbini was an Egyptian pharmacist working in Germany. She was killed by Alex Vince, a German citizen of Russian origin, inside a court hall.
