The United States will deal seriously with Egypt's legal demands as the U.S. administration wants to return Egyptians' rights to the people, said William Burns, the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Political Affairs. Burns expressed his optimism about the situation in Egypt, saying that Egyptians are also optimistic by that they realize the country faces a difficult path. During an interview with the evening talk show Al-Hayat Al-Youm (Life Today), Burns said the Egyptian people have all the political choices. He added that only the people can decide who will take power and lead the country during the next stage. He said democracy provides all political powers equal opportunities, so the people can choose from among them. The high-profile U.S. official said anxiety over Iranian influence is not limited to those in the U.S., but extends to many countries around the world, including prominent Arab countries. Burns added that Iran's nuclear program and its role in destabilizing the region are the main reasons for such anxiety.
