Amnesty International has asked Egyptian authorities to launch an investigation into security forces response to protestors, saying they used excessive violence against the protestors as they shot off tear gas bombs. Amnesty said in a statement today that these acts of violence remind protestors of the attitude security forces had towards them before the Revolution. Amnesty also said the latest protests in Tahrir Square show that Egypt needs to reform its police and security forces in order to rebuild the trust between citizens and policemen. Egypt needs to preserve security without waging a war on protestors.
