Judge Essam al-Goharey, assistant to the Minister of Justice, dismissed Ahmed Ezz from the investigation office, and sent him back to prison. Judge Khaled Selim ran the investigation of Ahmed Ezz. The investigation revolved around Ezz's increased funds that were not registered in his financial disclosure. The undisclosed funds include villas, mansions and flats he took by using his position in power, as well as agricultural lands and six iron and steel companies, and stocks estimated at seven billion EGP. Ezz denied that he gained these funds by using his powers or illegitimate ways. The return of Ezz to prison caused clashes that broke out between his supporters, journalists, and a group of former regime's opposition, who insulted Ahmed Ezz, shouting, "You thief, you thief." body
