CAIRO: Egypt's Prime Minister, Dr. Essam Sharaf, did not attend the opening session of the conference, titled "Egypt after the Revolution," which carried the slogan of "investment + employment = bread + freedom + social justice." The first session of the conference was attended by Dr. Mahathir Mohamed, the former Prime Minister of Malaysia who managed to achieve notable development in his country. Others who attended the first session included representatives of the military council such as General Sameh Sadek and General Mohamed Ali al-Meselhy, along with the chairman of the union industries, Galal al-Zorba. The chairman and the vice president of the tourist chambers union, Elhamy al-Zayat and Mohamed al-Masry, also came to the first session. Al-Zorba said the conference gathered the different groups interested in achieving economic development. He also said the main speaker of the conference will be Mr. Mahathir Mohamed who will present what Malaysia experienced in terms of development. Al-Zorba added that what Malaysia achieved can also be achieved in Egypt, especially since Malaysia went through more difficult conditions than what Egypt is currently facing.
