The MV Suez crew were received by their families at Cairo airport after long flight from Pakistan to Dubai then Cairo. The Egyptian MV Suez ship was heading to Eritrea last July with a cement shipment. Its crew consisted of 11 Egyptian sailors, four Pakistani, five Indian and one Sri Lankan sailor. Somali pirates kidnapped the ship's crew and detained them for more than ten months. The crew was released after paying two million dollars ransom on Monday, June 13. A Pakistani ship then delivered them to Salalah port in Oman. Wael Saleh, the head engineer of the MV Suez, said, “I am thankful that I could return back home and see my wife and daughters again.” The crew thanked all the people that helped them return home.
