Arabic: منصور العيسوى Born: 18 September 1937 Mansour el-Issawy was appointed Minister of Interior by Prime Minister Essam Sharaf on March 5, 2011. He succeeded Mahmoud Wagdy. Issawy graduated from the Egyptian Police College in 1959. He is licensed in law and has a diploma in political science. In 1973 he obtained a diploma from the Arabic Studies and Research Institute of the Arab League. He joined the Cairo police force after he graduated. In 1983 Issawy worked as a police inspector in the General Administration of Inspection and Censorship, and then became the administration's under secretary. MENA, the state news agency, quoted Issawy as saying his priorities include reinforcing security across Egypt. He was also reported to be popular for trying to curb corruption.
