CAIRO: Youth of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) announced they will form a new party called "Egyptian Trend" that will rival the MB's Freedom and Justice Party. The youth took this step after their attempts to persuade Muslim Brotherhood's leadership to reconsider its establishment of the Freedom and Justice Party failed. MB youth said some of the Muslim Brotherhood leaders support their movements, but they refused to mention the names of those leaders. The general guide assistant of the MB, Rashad Bayoumy, told Youm7 the MB's decision not to join any political party other than Freedom and Justice cannot be abandoned. Bayoumy said anyone who violates this decision will be dismissed from the Muslim Brotherhood. The activist Asmaa Mahfouz, a member of the new “Egyptian Trend” Party said the party includes all the Egyptian trends because it is based on a program of democratic principles, not an ideology. Asmaa Mahfouz denied that the party was split by MB youth, because, according to Asmaa, the founders of the party have one goal. The MB youth are considered a useful addition to the party because they have organizing potential, made obvious during the revolution, in addition to political experience. M.N, a MB youth and an "Egyptian Trend" Party founder, said they don't intend to leave the MB. They are just delivering a message that freedom of opinion won't be stopped. He hopes the MB treats them in a way fitting of the revolution and the new freedom state. The party's essential goals are to enhance the January 25 Revolution's achievements and to participate in establishing a new democratic life that revolves around Egyptian citizens and their demands.
