CAIRO: The woman at the center of Imbaba's sectarian violence, Abeer Fakhry, was released today. However, security sources say after her release the police in the al-Qalyubiyah governorate sent her back to Qanater prison because she had no house to live in. The apartment in which Abeer hid during the Imbaba incidents, and is owned by a Muslim, has been rented to another person after Abeer's imprisonment. The sectarian violence in the Imbaba neighborhood of the Giza governorate, lead to the killing and injuring of dozens of Egyptians, and the burning of the Virgin Mary Church. According to investigation, Abeer is faced with charges of not informing the Islam Notarization authority that she is married to a Christian man. Abeer said she notarized her conversion to Islam at Al-Azhar, and the employee of Al-Azhar did not ask if she was married.
