CAIRO: Egyptians will blog against sexual harassment and sexual violence in Egypt on June 20. The initiative, launched by a group of Egyptian youth, asks Egyptians to blog, tweet or post on Facebook to raise awareness of sexual harassment. “The initiative is a voluntary campaign proposed by some activists on Twitter and Facebook. HarassMap decided to support and accomplish this initiative,” said Engi Ghazlan, one of the founders of HarassMap, an organization which aims to map the hotspots of sexual harassment in Egypt. She added that the day of blogging against harassment aims to raise awareness among young women about sexual harassment and how they can defend themselves. Ghazlan said HarassMap is a blog launched by human right activists to stop harassment in Egypt. The blog has a map to show where harassment cases in Egypt have occurred. She also noted the harassment places are reported by calling or sending SMS on 1069870900.
