Islamic preacher Omar Abd el-Kafi said he received a phone call from Egypt's former Minister of Interior, Habib al-Adly, telling him he was prevented from going to Saudi Arabia for pilgrimage by former President Hosni Mubarak. “The former regime had blocked my passport,” said el-Kafi. El-Kafi said the former regime considered him to be dangerous outside Egypt and so to him Egypt was like a big jail. El-Kadi decided to not return to Egypt because it was not the suitable place for him to carry out his religious role as Islamic preacher. He denied that any one has prevented him from returning to Egypt, and said he can return any time he wants to. El-Kafi returned to Cairo recently after spending more than 12 years in the United Arab Emirates. He had spent all this time outside Egypt because the former regime had sentenced him to execution.
