CAIRO: “All presidential seats are not worth a drop of blood,” said Ahmed al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, to the Libyan rebel delegation. Tayeb added that Al-Azhar supports Libyan rebels and the Arab uprisings in Syria and Yemen. He called on Arab leaders to reward their people by stepping down if retaining their power could lead to bloodshed. The rebel delegation showed Egypt's Grand Mufti photos of the atrocities committed in Misurata by Libyan leader Muammar Gadhafi's troops. The delegation members told Youm7 that they went to al-Azhar as it is the sponsor of Muslim affairs all over the world. Delegation spokesman Yousif Abu Alim presented the gratitude of Libyan Transitional Council to Tayeb for his statement on the Libyan Revolution. Tayeb's statement called on the Libyan Army to disobey Gadhafi. The delegation added that Tayeb vowed to form a group of Imams to put pressure on the Libyan regime in order to stop the blood bath. Tayeb added that he will not be chained when he sees those atrocities and listens to Libya's screams.
