The main objective of the police institution is to protect the security of the country and the Egyptian citizens, said Gamal Ibrahim, an official in Egypt's Ministry of Interior. In a phone call with the evening talk show "al-Hayat al-Yuom," Ibrahim talked about the main defendant of the explosions that took place near al-Hussein Mosque and Cairo's famous Khan el-Khalili market in 2009. He said the defendant is called Khaled Mohamed and is a leader in Beni Suef governorate, adding that he was accused before in another case. Ibrahim clarified that the defendant went to the Gaza Strip to take the leadership of the Palestinian Islamic Army and led the Islamic front there. He added that although he was in Gaza, he managed to plan and execute the explosions of al-Hussien. Ibrahim said that Mohamed tried to exploit the state of chaos and insecurity which the country witnesses to reach to his governorate, Beni Suef, but security forces managed to arrest him
