Dr. Mamdouh Hamza was chosen to be the spokesman of the National Council. The first conference of the council, the attendees voted for Hamza for the position on Saturday. Hamza said the institutional structure of the council will be announced three days after the conference, and the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) will be informed of the council's decision. He emphasized the SCAF refuses to hold parliamentary elections before preparing the new constitution, demanding a plan to restore security on the Egyptian streets. Hamza raised the necessity of releasing prisoners of labors and farmers who participated in yesterday's demonstrations. He also demanded attendees to prevent figures of the former regime from participating in the syndicates' elections, scheduled for next week. Hamza expressed refusal of Ayman Nour's proposal to invite the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) to participate in the national council. He said, "I called the MB to participating three times but they haven't responded so we will not repeat the call for the fourth time." The attendees supported Hamza's opinion.
