multimedia Many writers, intellectuals and artists joined yesterday's demonstrations in Cairo's Tahrir Square to fight against political corruption. Among them were director Magdi Ahmed Alin, poets Abdel Moneim Ramadan, Shaban Yusuf, Tamer Abul Hamid and Ibrahim Daoud, novelists Ahmed Laidi, Mansoura Ezz Eddin, Hamdi Abu Jalil, and Muhammad Hassan, artist and musician Ramy Yassoub, and many others. Several poets read out their poems and the square was filled with exhibitions of photographs, cartoons, drawings, and paintings. A number of young people put on a silent theatrical performance that did not take more than five minutes. It involved them carrying around black and white paper with slogans and questions about the revolution. The most striking element about their performance, which led to many taking photos with them, was the group's t-shirts, which had the word “infiltrator” written on them. Musician Ahmed Ismail sang several songs of resistance, while many young protestors led sing alongs of songs by Shadia and the great artist Mohammed Mounir. Others organized exhibits of paintings on the history of the Palestinian intifada and pictures of ousted President Hosni Mubarak with a number of Ambassadors and leaders of the U.S. and Israel.
