Rifai followers organized a large ceremony that took place in Saladin Citadel of Cairo, rather than al-Sayeda Zeinab Mosque, to ease the burden on security forces. Police and civil defense forces increased its presence to prevent any possibility fire or violence in the ceremony. Rifai followers, who are Sufis, announced their support of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed al-Tayeb, and Grand Mufti Ali Gomaa. They also supported the demand to stop participating in any demonstration. Rifai lead Sheikh Mohammed Hammad said anyone who says, "There is no God but Allah," should follow the Sufi orientation. The Rifai order is an eminent Sufi order founded by Ahmed al-Rifai, who was born in Hasen Region of Wasit, Iraq.
