Egyptian security forces have prevented dozens of activists from traveling to the Gaza Strip. Around seven buses and 13 microbuses were stopped before reaching Sinai, on al-Salam Bridge, by security forces. However, hundreds of activists managed to reach Sinai individually. Security forces intensified their presence on al-Salam Bridge, adding 500 more policemen as well as army troops to those already stationed at the bridge. Security imposed tight measures at checkpoints, inspecting people and identity cards. They allowed only people who live in the area and laborers to pass the checkpoints. Trucks carrying food and medical supplies were also prevented from passing the gate. Hundreds of people protested the security measures by sitting on the ground in front of the gate. All activists returned from al-Salam Bridge after failing to convince security officials to allow them to pass through. Security forces headed by Brigadier Ayad al-Tahawi resumed securing the bridge to manage the two-way traffic. Forces are expected to continue the intensified presence until Sunday night. Arabic here
