CAIRO: Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi declared he is in full support of solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Dr. Nabil al-Araby called for an international conference for peace, supported by the 338 resolution of the UN Security Council. Jiechi said his country recognized Palestine as a state and is in full support of any action taken towards independence, such as the expected Palestinian reconciliation agreement that is taking place in Egypt. The Chinese Foreign Minister said the discussions he had with Egypt's Foreign Minister were productive and beneficial. He said the Egyptian government exerts efforts to respond to the Egyptian's demands. He promised that China will work for more a cooperative relationship with Egypt. Jiechi said diplomatic relations between China and Egypt started 55 years ago. Egypt was the first Arab state to establish strategic relations to cooperate with China. Jiechi said Egypt is a very important state in the Arab and African area and China focuses on developing its economic and political relations with Egypt. He expressed China's readiness to encourage Chinese tourism to Egypt. Jiechi confirmed his government encourages Chinese companies to increase their investments in Egypt. He added that China welcomes Egyptian tourists and investors. He expressed his confidence that relations between Egypt and China will witness notable progress and continuous cooperation in international issues. Arabic here.
