CAIRO: The organizers of a new Facebook group are calling for the end of tariffs imposed on cars imported to Egypt, criticizing the high taxes and other charges that increase a vehicle's cost by nearly 100 percent. The group is caleld "together to cancel car tariffs." Organizers have stated that because of these tariffs, an imported car would typically cost 100,000EGP (U.S. $15,000). The group added that there are many governmental difficulties imposed on getting these cars and personal driving licenses as well, adding that the deteriorated network of transportation officials in Egypt will hopefully force an open door for importing cars with lower rates.
