CAIRO, Egypt: Despite approval by the legislative committee for a project regarding electronic voting in the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections, the ministry of communication and information technology said that such a project will take a large amount of technological preparation and control. The minister, Dr. Magid Othman, stressed though that the ministry does promote the use of technology for aiding electoral schedules and ensuring transparency of elections. After a recent meeting held between the Egyptian and Sudanese ministries regarding the use of information technology, the Sudanese minister stated that the next session of the Arab Communication Council will discuss an increase in cooperation between the two countries. The cooperation will include an open door policy where Sudan may benefit from Egypt's experience in regards to electronic governmental domains.
