CAIRO: Youm7 has learned that the High Court of Appeals in Cairo has received the file regarding gas exportation to Israel. The file has been referred for the High Court to specify a date for a trial before a lower branch of the Cairo Criminal Court. Egypt's former minister of petroleum and metallurgical wealth, Sameh Fahmy, business tycool Hussein Salem, and five other ministry figures are accused of committing crimes against the public interest by selling Egyptian gas to Israel at prices far below international market value. The terms of the contract with Israel, signed by Fahmy, are extremely prejudiced against Egyptian interest and are believed to have cost more than U.S. $714 million in loses. The deal earned Salem a great deal of money.
