Egypt's Chamber of Tourism is accepting nominations for the chamber's board. Candidates are asked to submit their data in the next two days for approval of the members, who will select the final candidate list. Mahmoud al-Kaysoni, head of the chamber's caretaker committee, said the chamber will hold elections after an unordinary meeting on May 17 to discuss the group's progress. He said the current council, composed of five members, is temporary and its tenure will end May 21. The chamber put strict conditions regulating who can be nominated for its board or as its representatives in the General Assembly. Potential candidates must be a head or a member of the Board of Directors, be an owner of stocks in a shareholding company, an owner of shares in a limited liability corporation, or an owner, partner, or manager of an individual company. Candidates should also be the authorized representative of the establishment or company in the chamber. He should enjoy good reputation and not have been convicted of a criminal or dishonorable offence. The new council will be composed of eight elected members, four members appointed by the Minister of Tourism, and 25 members who will be chosen by the Egyptian Union for Tourist Chambers. The Minister of Tourism will be informed of the results of the elections on May 18 and will then appoint the four other members.
