Ahli boss Hossam Al-Badri has warned his team of being over ambitious ahead of the Club World Cup, stressing that ‘decent football' remains his top objective. Despite an earlier declaration from vice-president Mahmoud Al-Khatib that the Reds will be targeting the title in Japan, Al-Badri seems to disagree with his employer over the team's goals this winter. “We are not going there to win the title," Al-Badri told Ahli's website. “Of course there is always hope, but we just want to produce decent performances so that we can get good results, without being unrealistic in our ambitions. “I remember in 2005 when we went to the World Cup and everyone was expecting us to cause a major upset and compete for the title, then we lost our two games. I don't want this to happen again. “I want my team to play the impressive football we've been showing in the Champions League, especially in the final against Esperance." Hiroshima Ahli open their World Cup campaign on December 9, when they face the winner of the match between Hiroshima Sanfrecce and Auckland City. “I am expecting Hiroshima to qualify and meet us," Al-Badri added. “It won't be easy as we all know that Asian football has seen a lot of progress in recent years."
