Mohamed Zidan could not help Bani Yas avoid a late 1-0 Emirate Cup defeat against Al-Wasl in the absence of star midfielder Shikabala. Bani Yas, who had more chances to win the game, were punished when Uruguayan forward Emiliano Alfaro headed home a fine cross two minutes from the end. After being denied by the keeper, Zidan also had a good chance to give his side the lead after going past the keeper but his effort was blocked by a defender. Egypt midfielder Shikabala did not feature for Al-Wasl after being recalled by his national side who play a friendly game in Georgia this week.
