Why the postponement of the 2012-2013 league season kickoff was the best decision for Egyptian football, as explained by Sports Minister El-Amry Farouk. Egyptian football is left facing another spell of uncertainty after authorities had decided to delay the season kickoff until the 17th of October, in the wake of the saga caused by ultras. However, minister Farouk unveiled a number of benefits that will be gained from the postponement, stressing that the domestic football system would see tangible improvements during the 30-day spell. 1-Better security “Conditions are expected to improve much during the 30-day postponement, that's why we all agreed to delay the league start," Egyptian Sports Minister Farouk said. “First of all, during that period, security is expected to be in a better state as conditions within the Minister of Interior is improving. There would surely be better security after a month." 2-Riots code “A counter-riot law should be officially enacted during that month; the project of this new regulation has been prepared and would be sent to the presidency who owns the legislative power to apply it." 3-New FA board “The EFA elections should be finished; there would be an FA board legitimately elected to be solely responsible of overseeing games." 4-Dialogue with ultras “During that period, there would be time to open a dialogue with all fan-groups as we are keen to listen to them and contain their problems. 5-Honoring the victims “Undergoing procedures to honor the martyrs - Port-Said victims - would be totally finalized, as the league crown would be officially named ‘The Martyrs Crown'. “A 3% of the broadcasting rights would also be allocated for the martyrs' families as we are keen to have their approval for the resumption of the league." 6-Helping financially-strapped clubs “The broadcasting committee would have finished its work completely generating revenues into clubs struggling to pay off its first team players. “There are around EGP 120million of broadcasting rights for clubs, thus players would earn their wages and start the league in a better position."
