Mohamed Salah's Basel have settled for a Europa League place after losing 3-1 on aggregate to Romania's Cluj in the Champions League playoff. While Egypt forward Salah was out injured, the Swiss champions lost 1-0 in Romania to wave goodbye to Europe's top-club competition for the first time in two years. The only goal of the game was scored by Greece international Pantelis Kapetanos in the 20th minute as Basel star Alexander Frei missed a penalty before half time. The Europa League group stage will kick off on September 20 as the draw takes place on Friday in Monaco.
