Shikabala could turn down Egypt's call up to focus with his new club Al-Wasl, according to Emirate newspaper alittihad. The controversial midfielder has been named in Bob Bradley's squad for friendlies against Benin and Nigeria next month, a few days before the kickoff of the UAE Football League. Renowned newspaper alittihad claims that Shikabala's morale is still down in the wake of the saga that followed his touchline row with ex-Zamalek coach Hassan Shehata in May. It also states that the Zamalek loanee, who was overlooked by Egypt in four qualifying games in June, feels he is not ready to return to the national team fold. In the same subject, Al-Wasl coach Bruno Metsu voiced his discomfort with the Egypt call for his star player, who is still ‘blending in with his new teammates'. Shikabala, 27, is regarded as one of Egypt's high-profile footballers, even though he has yet to score a competitive goal for his country.
