New Zamalek manager Jorvan Vieira is delighted with the team's spirit in training as the Whites gear up for the Champions League home encounter against DR Congo's Mazembe on Sunday. The Brazilian boss, who had been appointed a week ago to take over from Hassan Shehata, raised the training work load as he was pleased to see his players' fitness improving. “I am very happy with the new spirit that I see among players," Vieira told Zamalek's website. “The players responded well in training and I can see that morale is high within the team." Fitness Vieira's training approach also seems to have impressed Zamalek players, as reflected by full-back Omar Gaber. “Despite Vieira's short period, he has been able to tangibly improve our fitness level," Gaber, who featured for the Egypt Olympic team at the London Games, told FilGoal.com. Zamalek, who lie at the bottom of Group B on nil points, take on four-African time champions Mazembe in a game they must win to keep alive their slim qualification hopes after three straight defeats. Vieira had previously announced that he would take full charge of the fixture despite not being totally familiar with his new squad.
