Egypt forward Mohamed Salah made his competitive debut for Basel as the Swiss champions qualified for the playoff round of the UEFA Champions League. Basel held Norway's Molde to a 1-1 draw at home to claim their ticket for the next round with a 2-1 aggregate victory. Salah started on the bench and came on as a 74th minute sub, seconds before his side's decisive equalizer through Swiss international Philippe Degen. Basel now face one step ahead of making the Champions League group stage for the third season running.
