Emmanuel Clottey, who scored a hat-trick against Zamalek in the African Champions League, said he knew the Egyptian side will commit defensive errors. "I knew their defenders were going to commit mistakes and I would punish them for it," Clottey said in Ghanaian media. Zamalek gave away the lead twice to Clottey's goals before the 24-year-old forward bagged the winner in the dying seconds as Ghana's Chelsea won 3-2. Before the game, Zamalek defender Hani Saied singled out Clottey as the source of all troubles after scoring six times in the preliminary stages. "In the competition if a striker scores six times all eyes are going to be on him," Clottey said. "I was determined to score a goal but I scored a hat-trick thanks to God." An Egyptian representative for the Ghanaian international said he offered Clottey to Ahli, Zamalek and ENPPI but all turned him down. Now with Clottey scoring nine goals so far, Zamalek have approached him but Chelsea asked for $500,000 to let the player go. Chelsea and Ahli are top of Group B in the Champions League with three points each, with Zamalek and Mazembe trailing.
